7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol. 10)

...1...

Which do you like better? Walmart or Target? I can say that I like Target better but I shop the other much more frequently. But I really love the Archer Farms line that Target carries.

I actually had a flower on my tiny hydrangea plant this year. Regretably, it's pretty much done for by now and I never got to photographing it and posting it here for the world to see.

We're sick. (Headcold, argh!) Well, we've been sick this past week or so but are now rounding out the last few days before complete wellness. I believe. It stinks, though, because we've not been able to go anywhere or do the things we like because of it. My gramma misses us and we miss her, but I definitely can't run the risk of being responsible for getting her sick. :(

Lately I've been feeling like there hasn't been much that's been too noteworthy happening here and have felt a little hesitant about scraping a bunch of little nothings into some posts that nobody would be at all interested in. But, I reminded myself that that's how a lot of blogs are, even ones I enjoy, so I uploaded pictures, and here you go. A new batch of posts.

I've started seeing clients again. (I'm a FertilityCare Practitioner for the Creighton Model FertilityCare System.) This week was my first Monday night in the office for follow-ups since the baby was born. I was a little bit nervous about how it would go since I had planned on taking the baby along with me. Crazy or not, that's just what I do. He's just four months old and nursing on demand. I've never owned a pump or a bottle and I like it that way (although I am a little self-conscious about it). So he came along and it went just fine.

I did feel really bad, though, about not having him home when he was tired and cranky for bed, but I nursed him, he fell asleep, and then I situated him in my trusty wrap and he slept while I continued to work for another hour or so.

OH! AND I got some of the best news ever. One of the client couples that I have been working with for the past several months had been given a 10% chance of ever getting pregnant naturally (by a traditional fertility doctor). They recently learned of some hormonal and medical complications that were making matters even worse. I found out Monday night that she's 5 weeks pregnant!!! Thank you, God!

It's all over for baby talk. Honeybun made the switch this week. He left behind his baby pronunciation of his big brother's name. And it's other words, too. In conversing with me one day he repeated a sentence several times alternating between his usual, "hungy" and "hungRy." He finally settled on hungRy and that was the end of it. I'm sad. :(

...7...

I've been baking bread again this week and my husband is in heaven. He loves homemade bread but would rarely get to enjoy it until now. It's so easy using the recipes from this book he gets to enjoy it much more frequently!

PS--Have a great weekend and go get yourselves some more Quick Takes from Jen. She's giving them away for FREE!

  1. Love the quick takes!

Wal-Mart or Target? If you'd asked me about a year ago, I would have told you that I did about 80% of my shopping at Wal-Mart. It was so nice to get nearly everything in one place and at a good price.

Remember those White Cloud diapers? I used them for seven years. Then one day, they were gone. I was irritated but figured that I could just do Luvs, then Pampers, but both leaked. :( Then I went to the juice aisle to get my big old container of powdered grape Gatorade. They don't carry it anymore. Then they stopped carrying my box of laundry detergent, Hot Tamales, and then a couple of other staples.

Several friends and my sister-in-law suggested Target brand diapers. They worked as well as the White Clouds and were 1/2 the price of Pampers or Luvs.

Then what? I started shopping at Target since it's less than a mile away (Wal-Mart is four miles away). So I get groceries at the store adjacent to it and hop over to Target for paper goods, clothes, and diapers.

So that was my gradual transition out of Wal-Mart. Aren't you bored to death ... I mean ... glad you asked!? ;)

  2. I loooove Target - there's something about their products that are just more fun and pretty and buy-able. I guess that's why I never get out of the store without an overload of unneccessary items. But I shop at Walmart more often for convenience. Groceries, mainly. If Target had produce and meat, I'd go there exclusively. But if - in the middle of a non-grocery shopping week - I need a few things? Target is my happy place.

And isn't it sad when the baby words are all gone? I mean, I'm happy that they're growing and learning, but...my baby... :(

  4. Target or Walmart? I don't really know the difference. I dislie shopping, and big stores only make that dislike stronger. (I dislike it so much that I once passed out in Target when a friend was taking a long time searching for what she wanted.)
