We're Learning!

(Let me just preface all of this by saying that our digital camera has found its way into the hands of our children. Now things just don't look the same. *Sigh* It was almost time to upgrade anyway, but now I'm stuck with pictures like this until we do. :\ )

Look what we got in the mail last week!! It made me tickled pink that two minutes after I laid all of these out to take this picture, Wideawake was glued to the table pouring over each of these books and asking for pens and pencils to begin working in them! I'm still looking things over and learning about the lesson plans, but we're both anxious to really get going. :) Yea!

When given the option to take our autumn tree entirely down or help it transition into a winter tree, this is what my boys selected. So we're going with it. I think it's a neat learning activity and am pleased with their choice and the outcome. I've been trying to think of how to make it come alive for spring. Any ideas?

Here they are in wrapt attention of our first snowfall of the year. This was the same day our seasons tree went through its transformation.

Would you look at this baby grow?! He's officially six months old now. It's relatively heart-wrenching for me, which is evidenced by the fact that this baby has yet to be introduced to solid foods. Oh well, he's thriving and the day is fast approaching. I'm just working myself up into it.

By the way, real baby boys wear pink. :)

  2. Mostly Sunny, these books are from Catholic Heritage Curricula. We did our first actual lessons only this morning, but I really love it already. I was pretty taken with this line of materials as soon as I looked into their philosophy and SAMPLE lesson plans/books via their website. So I ordered the "core" materials plus A Year With God: Celebrating the Liturgical Year. The neat thing is that CHC's Kindergarten curriculum includes a pre-school program. Two in one--bonus!
