Since Learning to Knit

I like green, can you tell? This scarf was my first project.

Still with the old camera. Maybe I'll start using it's inadequacies as artistic license. Anyway, he thinks this scarf is too scratchy. It's made with local wool. It was my second project and I wear it more than he does.

This is the first of two cowls. This one is for me and it's alpaca. :) True to (my) form, I didn't really use a pattern. I got ideas and gathered information from a bunch of patterns and then came up with this on my own (same with the green one).

I just love how soft it is and how I can pull it up over my face if I feel like it.

This one is for a friend.

(Again with the camera. And) This was taken by Wideawake.

This is for my new baby niece.
It's being modeled here by my smiley baby son (whose head is just slightly too big for it). It was just so cute to see it on a baby, though! And I love how it seems to have an old-fashioned, classic-baby look to it.

Lastly, tonight I just finished a pair of baby booties for a friend's new baby. They're in the same color as the baby hat. I'd have posted a picture, but I still need to stitch them together at the seams and weave in the ends, so maybe after that gets done. I'm sure I'll just have to try them out on my favorite model.

After that I have another pair of baby booties to make for a different newborn, but I think I'm going to try a different pattern to learn a new technique off of it. Then, if the angoras are in, I think I'll do the "urban wrap" that I've been holding off on (do tassels for the first time and larger garment). Otherwise, my other next projects are a felted needle pouch (learn felting), and baby clothing (shell/vest/sweater/pants), momma legwarmers and everybody hats (learn -and/ or practice- knitting in the round).

I do so love learning new things!

But, interestingly, while I was just starting out learning knitting I started thinking about cross-stitching. I learned it when I was a little girl and haven't done any since then, but it struck me as a great idea to do some again. (Probably because it seemed like it would be easy in comparison to the new skill of knitting!) So I'm currently waiting for some pattern books from the library to select some favorites to stockpile in my project folder. Yay!
