2--Since this is my first project on circular needles the original seam is a little looser than what I'd like it to be. Although, this is on the back of the sweater, so I'd probably be willing to let that one slide.
3--More evidence of my faulty m1 stitches. (Why did I have to be so cocky and not double check that I knew what I was doing before I barreled ahead?) (And why do these things not show up this clearly until you're 10 rows down the lane??) :s
This is the lucky little boy for whom this sweater is being made. My one and only blue-eyed boy did not stay this happy in the stroller for the duration of our shoveling time this morning. So we had to call it quits and leave a bunch for his daddy to have fun with this afternoon. PS--I love that in this picture he's wearing my old snowsuit that was handmade by my mother and grandmother.
Okay, so back to the real topic at hand. If you were making this baby's sweater vest would you take it all apart and start over from scratch?

I don't think you have enough yarn...Maybe add another color for a stripe, I did that with Beatrix's gray one along the bottom and it looks really cute. What are you using for your marker to mark the beginning of the round? If you are using a plastic/metal ring, maybe switch to a small loop of yarn, you will be able to join a bit tighter. I always start over or rip back when I mess up b/c I am too much of a perfectionist. I just finished my first raglan sweater (EZ from Knitting without tears) and ripped out and redid the neck even after I had already bound off. Such a pain, but so worth it.
ReplyDeleteWill you be happy with it if you keep going? I mean, will you let him wear it without pointing out to everyone you see the exact places of imperfections? If you'll love it either way, then I'd say to just keep going. And if the yarn ball is too small, I like Ginny's stripe idea. But if you'll be frustrated every time you look at the thing, I'd say just go ahead and start over from scratch. More work, but if you like it better in the end -- that's what's important :)
ReplyDeletePlus, I'm just impressed that you're doing this in the first place. So talented!
